The creation of Precambrian

Working with Rober Rich was such fun with an amazing work flow. When I started with Precambrian I did some

research and ended up listen too Roberts Earlier works.  I asked him what he was using for the pads, they were

so quiet and very different from pads in general. So I ended up trying some of David Helplings guitar textures

I had from previous project. Using Native´s Kontakt Player I put one of Helplings ambient guitar file

inside and try to find a nice spot in the file, making something ambient that would fit my new music. Using Helplings

unique textures is amazing because they are so alive and the gentle and softness he put inside his textures is

making it work so nice for this music. The foundation on Mesozoic Era and Proterozoic Eon was created in this

way and the start of Precambrian.

After i have made the first two tracks I understood that I needed a person that could make something special with the music. I was listening to Rich´s new album in 2018 «The Biode» and understood that this a musician was some unique and I would have loved using him on precambrian. When Rich send me the first files, I new that I have found the right person for this prosjekt and he was able to speak directly to the music and response too it. Robert has been a perfect fit for this prosjekt binding it together and make it become alive.

Another person that has inspired my creation of Precambrian is the professional photographer, Martin Stranka who lives in Prague. During the last years Martin has won over 80 major international photography awards from different competitions, including Sony World Photography Awards, Professional Photographer of the Year, Nikon International Photo Contest, Prix de la Photographie Paris and International Photography Awards eleven times in a row.

For me personal this track, Cenozoic Era, is a perfect match. I love how it sounds and here is how it was created;

When I start working on the Cenozoic Era i already had the Name and the picture I wanna have for this era in front of me. The Award winning picture «Dreamers and Warriors» created by Martin Stranka, is the picture I´m using to represent the Cenozoic era. So I used this art as a guide for this pice and trying to imagine how is should sound. This "soundtrack" has to be very spesial and might have a bit orchestral and a military flavor inside. I was lucky and found my «main» sound for this track, in the sample-based synthesizer from Native Instrument; FORM. I could hear from the first moment I played the «sound» that is was a perfect match,  (I always put on the screensaver when I composing music, and the picture I use for the Precambrian album was «Dreamers and Warriors»). When i hit the recorder button I always use my first recording, because it is pure and reel. For the oboe and tuba arrangements I used Kontakt playert. TRK 01 from the Reaktor is amazing and all this together with Robert giss guitar, this track got also more dramatic and alive. Output´s «arcade» was also a part of this music.

The Eons and Eras in this music requires different sounds related to events during these periods. In the 90's, I picked up the sound of a baby who had milk from her mother. At Mesozoic Era, the first mammal pops up and here I use the sound of the baby to represent the suture sound and as the first mammal. Maybe not the right sound but anyway it is the way I have worked finding sounds to make this more authentic.

The mastering prosess is very important for this prosjekt because of the ambience and nature sound. Howard Givens wanna make the tracks even deeper, bringing sounds in front of the listener and open it up in the hi end. The sounds become more alive and working great together with his fine mastering techniques.
